This term refers to the special architectural features found in the Cyclades Islands in the Aegean Sea. Cycladic homes are built using the simplest of means and yet are considered to be works of unique aesthetics. The Aegean islands had security issues due to piracy, therefore the architecture took a defensive character, that is why you see houses built within the fortified enclosure of a Castle.
